Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 5 large fresh thyme sprigs
- 1¼ pounds slender asparagus spears, (trimmed)
- sea salt or kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, (to taste)
Steps

Heat the oil with the butter and thyme sprigs in a heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the asparagus in a single layer; using tongs, toss to coat. Saute, turning often, until crisp-tender and beginning to brown in spots, about 8 minutes. If you have too many asparagus, you may need to do this in two batches.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and serve.
