Ingredients

  • 1 loaf french bread
  • ½ cup salted butter (softened)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic (minced, see notes for alternatives)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. In a small bowl, combine butter, olive oil, garlic, and parsley until well mixed.

  3. Using a serrated knife, cut the bread in half lengthwise.

  4. Spread the cut sides of the bread with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with cheese if using. Place the halves, cut side up, on a rimmed baking sheet.

  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden and toasted. Cut into slices and enjoy.
