Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, (at room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1½ cups finely chopped, peeled apple
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 5x9-inch loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the sugar, butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, sour cream and vanilla and mix to combine.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and cloves.

  4. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

  5. In a medium bowl, toss the apples with the vinegar. Stir the apples into the batter.

  6. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack.
