Ingredients

3 servings
  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • sliced green onion (and lemon wedges for serving, optional)

Steps

  1. Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together garlic, soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.

  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side or until just pink and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the same skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes or until thickened.

  6. Stir in butter until melted and smooth.

  7. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.

  8. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, just until heated through.

  9. Serve warm with sliced green onions and lemon wedges if desired.
