Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon (chopped)
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 6 cups chopped green cabbage (core removed, 1-inch pieces)
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste, optional )

Steps

  1. Heat a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.

  2. Add chopped onion to the bacon drippings and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. Stir in chopped cabbage and cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender.
