How To Make Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients
- 2 cups balsamic vinegar
- 1 -2 tbsp honey or brown sugar (optional)
Steps
-
Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan. For more mellow sweetness, you can add 1-2 tbsp of honey or brown sugar.
-
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the vinegar up to a simmer, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
-
Once simmering, reduce heat to medium-low to maintain a gentle simmer. Allow the vinegar to simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 30-60 minutes. As the vinegar reduces, it will gradually thicken into a syrupy glaze. When it coats the back of the spoon and has reduced to about 1/2 to 1/4 of its original volume, it is ready.
-
Remove the glaze from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Transfer the balsamic glaze to a heat-proof container or jar. Use, or seal and refrigerate the glaze. It will keep for several months when stored properly in the refrigerator.
