  • 1 ¾ cups whole wheat pastry flour, white whole wheat flour, or all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and lightly cooled
  • 1 cup plain yogurt (plain Greek yogurt works, too)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons turbinado sugar for sprinkling on top (optional)
