  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 medium onion (peeled and halved)
  • 2 celery ribs (cut into thirds, leaves attached)
  • 2 carrots (peeled & halved)
  • 2 smashed garlic cloves
  • 1 bay leaf (optional, but nice)
